Germanic Iron Sword
An ancient Germanic large iron sword of fine quality with a sharp tapered blade and a thin hammered tang for insertion into the pommel.
Przeworsk culture. Ca. 3rd - 4th century AD. Length: 26 in. (66 cm). The tang repaired, otherwise intact.
The Przeworsk culture was located in what is now central and southern Poland and parts of eastern Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia between the Odra and Vistula Rivers. It takes its name from the village near the town Przeworsk where the first artifacts were found. The Przeworsk culture was an East-Germanic speaking people who likely evolved into the Vandals.
