Greek Terracotta Seated Female

An ancient Hellenistic Greek fragmentary terracotta statuette of a woman wearing a long chiton with her right arm raised, seated on a chair, a kalathos (wool basket) at her feet. Her posture indicates that she is spinnig wool. The ancient polychrome and gesso remains on the surface.

Ca. 3rd century BC.
Height: 3 in. (7.5 cm).

Formerly in the Collection of the Princely House of Liechtenstein; acquired by Prince Johann II (1840-1929) in the late 19th or early 20th Century.
