An ancient Greek marble Cycladic idol of a nude female composed of fragments from three different statues of equal proportion. The arms are folded across the chest, the pubic triangle carefully incised.

Spedos Type, ca. 2500 BC.

The culture of the Cyclades islands flourished between 3200 and 2000 BC and is known today mostly by the beautiful and mysterious abstract marble Cycladic idols that they produced. The idols are restrained in expression and refined in execution, revealing a particular reverence for the feminine form.
