Egyptian Faience Entrhoned Sekhmet

An ancient Egyptian green faience amulet of lion-head goddess Sekhmet.

Late Period, ca. 700-30 BC.
Height: 1 5/8 in. (3.8 cm).
Intact.

Sekhmet was a warrior goddess of Upper Egypt depicted as a lioness. She was also a solar deity, and was associated with different aspects of Hathor, Mut, and Bastet. She wears the solar disk headdress, and uraeus which associates her with Wadjet and royalty.
