Egyptian Faience Amulet Kneeling Figure of Shu
An ancient Egyptian green faience amulet of the god Shu, kneeling with arms raised to support the Sun.
Late Period, ca. 700-30 BC. Height: 1 3/8 in. (3.3 cm). Intact.
Shu was a primordial god personifying the air. He was the father of Nut (sky) and Geb (earth) with his sister and wife, Tefnut (moisture). Shu was considered, as the air, a cooling and calming deity, and as such was associated with peace and order.
