Roman Oil Lamp: Bearded Head
An ancient Roman pottery oil lamp with an image of a bearded head shown frontally in the center discus. Ca. 1st - 2nd century AD. Length: 3 1/2 in. (9 cm). Intact. A full lamp of this type would burn for two or three hours. Formerly in the collection of Dr. Wallace A. Russell, Tampa, Florida; purchased in Philadelphia, 1977.
