Trajan 98-117 AD
Silver tetradrachm, 23.5 mm, 13.30 gm. Obv: AYT[OKP KAIΣ NEP TPAIA]NOΣ... Laureate head of Trajan facing right. Rev: Î?HMAPX EÎ? [YÎ ATE] MHTPOÎ OÎ?EΩC Tyche seated holding palm frond; below, half-length figure of river-god Cydnus wearing ear-shaped headdress; civic monogram to right. Cilicia, Tarsus, struck 103-111 AD. Trajan was born in Spain, he served in the German wars under Domitian, before being appointed governor of Germany under Nerva. He defeated Decebalus of Dacia in 102 and erected the Forum of Trajan.
