Egyptian Terracotta Doll Head
An ancient Egyptian terracotta head, probably from a doll. The smooth flattened surface at the top and back of the head may have allowed for interchangeable hairstyles or headdresses. Roman Egyptian, Ca. 4th - 5th century AD. Height: 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm). Formerly in a New York private collection, acquired at Hotel Drouot, Pescheteau-Badin-Ferrien, Paris, June 18, 1991; previously in a French private collection.
