Silver Denarius, 18.5mm, 3.39 gm. Obv: ANT AVG / III VIR R P C, Praetorian galley right. Rev: Aquila between two signa; LEG XI across lower field. (struck by Antony before Actium, possibly with silver from Cleopatra's treasury). Minted Autumn 32-spring 31 BC. Born in 83 BC, by age 22, Antony was a cavalry officer under Caesar in his Gallic campaign afterward he was appointed augur then consul. After Caesar's assassination he formed the 2nd triumvirate with Octavian and Lepidus. He fled with Cleopatra following his defeat at Actium and committed suicide in 30 BC.
