Egyptian Bronze Falcon
An ancient Egyptian bronze standing falcon, the closed wings crossed over the tail, the feathers defined by incision, a broad collar across the chest in horizontal rows, the separately cast talons now lacking. Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Ca. 664 - 525 BC. Height: 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm). The falcon was associated with several different Egyptian deities. The predatory bird was a symbol of the sun-god Amun-Re and the sky-god Horus, as well as the war-god Montu. Published: W. H. Peck and P.
