Pair of Sinu Gold Fan Shaped Earrings
A Pre-Columbian Sinu large pair of gold fan shaped ear pendants with six bands of open work filigree. Sinu, Cauca River Valley. Ca. 1000 - 1500 AD. Width: 4 3/8 in. (11 cm). Weight: 67.5 gm. The gold industry of the northern Colombian highlands was highly developed. They produced many small intricately made ornaments of personal adornment often depicting caciques or chieftains with zoomorphic attributes.
