Attic Greek White-Ground Lekythos
An ancient Attic Greek white-ground lekythos with two rows of palmettes around the body, dotted bands above and radiate pattern on the shoulder. Athens, Attica. Ca. 500 - 450 BC. Height: 5 3/4 in. (14.8 cm). The lekythos was used to hold olive oil in antiquity and was often left as a grave offering. cf.: D. C.
