An ancient Egyptian dark gray stone amulet depicting the head of a bull.
Late Period, ca. 700-30 BC.
Height: 12 mm.
Intact, no repairs.
Throughout Egyptian history, the bull was revered for its strength and virility. The Apis Bull was particularly associated with Osiris and Ptah, and seems to have been an actual bull selected for adoration on account of its markings and physique.
