An ancient Egyptian blue-green faience amulet depicting the bandy-legged dwarf god Patiakos. The nude janiform deity is bald, his hands to his sides.

Late Period, ca. 700-30 BC.
Height: 1 1/4 in. (30mm).
Broken at neck and repaired.

Pataikos or Ptah the dwarf, was generally depicted as a broad-headed, bandy legged, youthful, sometimes janiform, dwarf. He was the protector of children.

Formerly in a New York private collection.
