Expertise
We are available for consultation with regards to collecting antiquities and are happy to provide advice free of charge.
Additionally, we provide authentication services for individual objects and entire collections. For a fee of $100 per hour, we will photograph, research, authenticate, and attribute antiquities and ancient coins. A complete description with photo and statement of authenticity with references and comparenda will be provided.
Where thermoluminescence, radio carbon dating, or isotopic analysis is required we would be happy to refer one to experts in the field. The same is true of mounting and restoration services.
Appraisal
Mr. Hixenbaugh is a member of the Appraisers Association of America. He is one of only a handful of appraisers qualified in the area of Ancient Art, and is available to perform appraisals of Near Eastern, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities, as well as ancient coins. Appraisals are rendered in accordance with the guidelines and by-laws of the Appraisers Association of America and are valid for estate planning, charitable donation, and insurance purposes. The fee is $200 per hour.
Consignment
Hixenbaugh Ancient Art is actively purchasing antiquities. We are interested in acquiring collections of legally acquired antiquities as well as individual objects. Furthermore we are happy to take pieces on consignment to offer to our ever expanding clientele.
