Egyptian Faience Offering Cup for Ramesses II

An ancient Egyptian blue-green faience offering cup bearing a hieroglyphic in two columns including the name of Merenptah,
son of Ramesses II.

New Kingdom, late 19th Dynasty,
Ca. 1213 - 1189 BC.
Height: 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm).
Intact.

These cups contained the various sacred perfumed oils and unguents that were used in both daily use and funeral ritual, they often were labeled with the contents.

Formerly in a New York private collection.
