Silver tetradrachm, 27 mm, 8.52 gm. Obv: SILINOS, Artemis in Apollo in Biga left Rev: River god, Selinos, sacraficing at altar, rooster, bull , and bird ca. 460 - 440 BC. Selinos (Selinunte), located on the southern coast of Sicily, was founded in the mid-7th century BC by Greek colonists from Megara Hyblaea on the eastern side of the island. The city prospered until its destruction by the Carthaginians in 409 BC.
